Right Angle Design Woodworking is a small urban shop in Atlanta, Georgia, where old school craft meets new school precision. We build mid-century modern home goods from exotic woods like ebony and zebrawood, finished with fabric and metal. Every piece is bespoke, cut for people who value originality and the hands that made it.

We started with a belief that the people who live in urban spaces deserve objects that feel like home — warm, honest and made to last. In a working Atlanta studio, we combine rare woods, natural fabrics and cold metal into pieces that work as hard as the city does.
As a veteran and minority owned business, we know that craft is discipline, and that discipline shows in every right angle we cut. We are not a factory. We are a small shop with big hands and a clear point of view.

Every Right Angle object starts as a conversation between the wood and the maker. We do not batch parts. We do not hide joints. We build in small numbered runs so that each piece keeps the grain, fit and finish that only hand work can give.

- Ebony
- Dense, dark and naturally dramatic. We use Gaboon and other true ebony for accents, corners and solid turned forms that feel like sculpture in the hand.
- Zebrawood
- Striped, bold and impossible to ignore. Zebrawood gives trays, boards and boxes their signature grain pattern — every board a different stripe.
- Fabric
- Canvas, linen, wool felt and cord soften the object and quiet the room. We set fabric by hand so it ages alongside the wood, not against it.
- Metal
- Brass, blackened steel and copper detail. Metal is punctuation, not decoration — hinges, rims, feet and hooks that hold the piece together and give it weight.

Carl works with hand planes and quiet patience. Dominic loads the laser engraver and shapes metal with modern precision. Virgil holds the line between them, making sure the final object is greater than the sum of its tools.

Carl learned the trade from the masters before him, working with hand tools and patience that can't be rushed. In our Atlanta shop, he still chooses every board by grain and feel, turning rough stock into pieces that last generations.
Virgil Pennie
Virgil translates the raw material into mid-century modern form — balancing proportion, surface and detail. He makes sure every Right Angle piece earns its place in a home or office before it ever leaves the bench.
Dominic Cole
Dominic brings the next generation of craft into the room, from traditional joinery to laser engraving and modern metalwork. He is the bridge between old-school patience and new-school precision.
